WIEP Historical Statistics
Media Comparison
The media comparison chart on the right (click on it to zoom in) shows the rise and fall of prints, slides and electronic media over the life of our exhibition.
It clearly shows the spectacular growth in popularity of slides and the equally spectacular decline after the mid-point boost in 1986 when our photojournalism sections were introduced (see below for more details on the sections). The trend that led to 2010 being the last year we accepted slides are evident.
Although too early to predict where it will end up electronic images are enjoying the same sort of spectacular growth that slides did in the mid-60's and 70's.

Do remember that these figures show cumulative data for prints, slides and electronic images across all the sections WIEP offers. For more information on the individual sections see below. |
Growth of the Different Sections
WIEP has grown through the years by adding support for new sections allowing photograhers to compete within more accessible and/or more a narrowly defined scope.
